I contacted Carrie at Alpha Dog Training when we adopted our rescue puppy Simba. Carrie immediately noted Simba's intelligent yet dominant behavior. In addition, Carrie had multiple challenges while working with us. At the time, I was a mom with two young children, one with sensory issues and another with a slight fear of dogs. Carrie tackled each challenge with ease as her years of experience really shone through. I appreciated her patience working with me on each challenge so that it soon became a milestone.
Now Simba knows who is the boss. He follows the hand or voice commands Carrie has taught us all to use. My son who was afraid of Simba at first, but so wanted a puppy, now proudly proclaims himself as a Dog Whisperer. My daughter with sensory issues is now calm when Simba comes over to hang out. I called Carrie as a last resort! My 2 yr old springer Riley was becoming very aggressive. He was people aggressive, other family dog aggressive, food aggressive and fear aggression, I guess every aggression know to man. I am the owner of 2 pitbulls and a lab, that equals over 200lbs of dogs. after several dog disagreements and tuffs and trips to the emergency room I was given CarrieAnns name and told that she deals with "aggressive type dogs". We are still in training as this is being written so in the short time that we have been training with CarrieAnn we now have our dogs under our control. there have been no disagreements or incidents since. CarrieAnn is available at all times via telephone and will help you thru any questions that you may have. Each training session I see better, well behaved and happier dogs. I rescued a dog that went back to the ASPCA 4 times! To say that he had some issues would be an understatement. I was up for the challenge! Well........of all the dogs that I rescued......this one was the one that I thought would break me! I have 5 dogs and when I brought in the last dog my Pit Bull mix Steel I needed help and I thought it was the Pit who was the problem. CarrieAnn came to my house and within the first few minutes realized I had bigger problems than just the Pit. My Bichon Augie was extremely aggressive also and he was a big part of the problem. I also have a Bichon/Shih - Tzu mix Sonny and he follows whatever Augie does. So at present I have the 3 dogs in training with Carrie.

Hired Carrie to help integrate our new puppy, a Boston Terrier, into our household. At the time we adopted the new puppy, we had a minpin who was 8 years old, set in her ways and not happy we brought home a new dog. Carrie not only helped us create a safe environment for our pets, but got us into a routine and a healthier diet for our pets!
When searching for trainers, we were particularly concerned with trainers who did not allow for pets to be on beds or couches with you - we love our lap dogs! But Carrie has a unique and innovative approach that taught our pups that we were in charge, but also allowed us to show them affection the way we wanted to. And with or without treats, our dogs listen! In our weekly visits with Carrie, she helped us learn how to train (and maintain!) our dogs so that they come when called, sit and stay on command, are not as distracted outside by squirrels or cars, and - of course - are housebroken.
I rest easy at night knowing that my dogs are trained, safe and healthy! Would recommend Carrie to anyone with a new puppy, or someone trying to teach old dogs new tricks (we learned it was possible)!

Alpha Dog Training is the best and fastest way to an obedient dog. This is our second dog (both Pitbulls) that have been put through Alpha training. I can honestly say, you get fast results. My dog Teak is a different dog today than she was last week. And my daughter's dog Tank, is NOW a Certified Therapy Dog. We first met Carrie Monteleon years ago, when she trained our Dalmatian, Damian. He had been abused, and bounced around from family to family, before we got him at only 7months of age. He came to us with a lot of baggage and aggression. Carrie turned Damian around and he was with us 3 months short of his birthday.

His long life is attributed to his happiness that Carrie helped us find and the wonderful food that Carrie recommended we put him on. About a year and a half of not having a pet we decided it was time.

In comes Riley, our German Shorthaired Pointer. Who else to call but Carrie MonteLeon - and Alpha Dog Training. We knew that it would not take long for this smart puppy to figure out who was going to be the master of the house. We picked Riley up on a Saturday and Carrie was at our home the following week training our then 9 week old pup. She is now going on 6 months old and is just a wonderful well behaved little girl. She will be getting a brother over the next few weeks. Without Carrie helping us over the bumps, and learning curves with Riley, I can't say that we would have decided to get the second pup, but knowing that Carrie will be helping us with Logan makes it all possible. We cannot possiblly say enough good things about Carrie & Alpha Dog Training, If you have a puppy or dog in your life, you owe it to them to call Carrie. Riley loves seeing Carrie and we just know that Logan will love her too.

I hired Carrie in 2009 when our newly adopted rescue, Milo (who is a spaniel mix), was showing aggression to pretty much anyone who came in our home, but especially men. I took him to obedience classes at PetSmart but they were pretty much worthless. After he attempted to lunge at our babysitter when she came in and picked up my daughter, I was at my wit's end and called Carrie. I had never spoken to her before but she was very calming and reassuring and told me after her first visit Milo would have two commands down (and he did). Fast forward 4 1/2 years later and Milo is a wonderful, obedient, sweet dog. I was a 7 year old Welsh Terrier who owned the house and my person, I was friendly and knew "sit" but was the ALPHA and sat when I wanted. I am 18 pounds and I would bark loudly at big dogs I saw on my leash during walks. Now I am an 8 year old Welsh Terrier who has respect for everything around me, including the big dogs, and I sit when I am told. I let the big dogs go by me while staying in a down position. I know hand commands, wait in a down position until I am told I can go to get my food, and stop in my tracks when told do so. You CAN teach older dogs many new tricks!!!!! that he goes over my neighbor's house for play dates. 
I love the fact that I can walk outside, go down the block
 and not have to take Oreo's leash! When another dog

 leave it AND HE DOES!! Some other things you taught
 him as not to jump on people or furniture; stay away

falls on the floor. When I think back of how scared

Hi Carrie, I just want to let you how lucky we are that you are training Max. My parents just left, and as they were leaving Max ran outside without his leash. He bolted out but I called his name and yelled "DOWN", with my hand signal, and wouldn't you know it....that big Marmaduke dog stopped in his tracks :) and dropped!!! He was so excited to be out. ASBURY PARK PRESS "BEST OF 2009" DOG TRAINER, October 15, 2009.

I was 5 month pregnant when we got our 2nd dog, a rescue from a south carolina shelter who is assumed to be greyhound and yellow lab. He was SO sick for months when we first took him in, we had no idea what his personality was like because he wouldnt do much but lay on his bed and cuddle with my (then 9month old) first rescue pup. Nearly a year later, after many vet visits and medication and love, Tucker started finally feeling good, and became himself... he also became harder to handle. He and my other dog, Cooper, still got along, but together they were just a little too much to handle alone while also handling a newborn. I started to realize that Tucker was showing a lot of fear around certain people, and he would often bulldoze over things and people to avoid someone. He was scared of the wind, anything that blew past him and hid and shook like a leaf when the vacuum or fire alarm when on. Once he started barking aggressively and pulling on the leash during walks when scared - which caused my other dog to bark at him and hump him, i decided to seek help.
I called a few places claiming to deal with behaviors in dogs, not just training... my dogs were able to sit, lay down and come. I needed someone to help us understand my dogs, their emotions and how to handle them in the worst situations without being afraid. Some "professionals" i spoke to sounded like they had no clue, others wanted to give my dogs drugs to sedate him, before after and during training (without even meeting them!!!) Carrie, on the other hand, had an extensive conversation with me on the first phone call, to find out why i called, what i thought was the problem, what results i wanted and what i expected of her. I appreciated her time, and caring about my feelings from the get go. I hired her, and started working with her immediately.
I didn't believe it, until i saw it, but one session with Carrie at our house and our dogs were acting different. They weren't cured, but i knew right then that she was actually going to help us. Much faster than i expected she worked with my husband and I, even with our small baby attending the trainings, and both dogs... and they are a millions times better than i would have ever imagined before meeting Carrie.
As a Mom with Rheumatoid Arthritis and a baby with two dogs (42 & 55lbs each)... I have been able to take all three on car rides, to the park, jogging, mommy and me meetups with other infants and children, drive throughs, picnics, family parties and even my office (a special needs vocational institute).
The comments I always here are "WOW!! your dogs are AMAZING!!" "how did you teach them to listen so well!?!?" "I can't believe youre walking two dogs and a stroller by yourself." "are they always this good" "are they service/therapy dogs?" and my favorite "OMG.. they are military trained." And people can not believe that i do not treat the dogs, and they still respect and obey my commands.
It feels so good to know that i can have a house full of people, be in any public place or have pretty much any child or adult touch my dogs and not have to worry about what they will do. It's great to be able to answer the door without being afraid they will run out... and being able to walk them outside late at night and not be worried or scared. Especially because i live in a development where almost EVERY unit has a dog or two... and they are all so poorly trained, and often times stranger dogs come running to my dogs, and i know my dogs will go into a down-stay and not move until i say so. I also have been able to teach them "go peepee" which makes walks in the freezing cold with a baby a lot faster!! :)
It feels so good to know that i can have a house full of people, be in any public place or have pretty much any child or adult touch my dogs and not have to worry about what they will do. Jennifer and Cosku Prior

Thanks to Carrie MonteLeon of Alpha Dog Training, Hunter brings joy to countless people and has received the "Therapy Dog Terrific Award". I desperately called Carrie while I was fostering this Great Dane and I couldn't believe my eyes that he was at least 40 lbs under weight, and didn't come out of the Submissive Position for about two weeks. My goal was to keep him as a replacement for my last dog "Elwood" who was a Certified "Therapy Dog". He was petrified of everything, and anyone, and going near a man was out of the question.

I took him for a walk and he almost dragged me into the middle of traffic when a train came. At the same time, if you reached for his collar to slow him down he turned dominant and had an attitude. After meeting him, she temperament-tested and evaluated him and saw him for the sweet dog that he was. Turns out, he was trained by one of those guys where you leave the dog there for a month and they put a shock collar on the dog and train it through fear. Carrie spent countless hours on the phone with me convincing me to keep him. Long story short ---He passed his very strict test with flying colors and now works at Jersey Shore Medical Center and Hospice Centers.
